How does transportation work?

If you live within 20 miles of the choice high school, your sending district is obligated to provide either transportation or payment in lieu of transportation. There is no guarantee that you will receive any kind of transportation from your resident district. The Morris Hills Regional District will contact the sending districts of all accepted choice students to help facilitate the setup of transportation or aid-in-lieu.

If you live further than 20 miles away from the choice high school, transportation is the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian, and you will receive no aid-in-lieu.

If your district does not offer transportation, all choice students, pending space availability, can apply to ride a Morris Hills Regional bus along an existing route. The cost is one half the aid-in-lieu payment. Transportation to and from the existing bus stop is the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian.
