Out-of-District School Choice Program

How does the admissions process work for the Magnet Program?
School choice applicants must meet the same admissions criteria for the Magnet Program that in-district students must meet in order to be admitted. In addition to the documents required for General HS admission, Magnet applicants must submit academic transcripts, attendance/discipline records, and letters of recommendation. Applicants must also participate in admissions testing. Academic achievement is a factor in admission.
Applicants who have siblings currently enrolled in the district as Choice students (and those siblings will be enrolled as Choice students the following year) and applicants who attend MacKinnon Middle School as choice students will have preference in the admissions process. Sibling preference does not apply to applicants who have siblings enrolled in the Academy for Math, Science, and Engineering or the Academy for the Performing Arts. Sibling preference also does not apply if the sibling is a graduating senior at the time of the student's application.
