Out-of-District School Choice Program

I am in parochial or private school—can I still apply for School Choice?
In order to apply for School Choice, students must be enrolled in their local public school or a charter school for the entire school year prior to the year in which they wish to attend the choice school (Tier 1 admission). Private, parochial, or home-schooled students may only be considered if there are seats available after all interested public school students have been admitted (Tier 2 admission). Tier 2 students, Wharton choice students, and students attending charter schools do not need to fill out an Intent to Participate form.
Students who live in Denville, Rockaway Borough, Rockaway Township, or Wharton are considered in-district students, even if they are attending a private, parochial, charter, or choice school, and will be considered with other in-district applicants.
