Superintendent Announcement

The Morris Hills Regional Board of Education has announced that at the public Board meeting held on Monday, April 24, 2023 the Board unanimously approved the appointment of Mr. Nicholas Norcia as the next Superintendent of Schools for the Morris Hills Regional District.

At the Board meeting, Mr. Michael Bertram, President of the Board of Education, said “We had many talented people interested in helping us run this district and after a thorough evaluation of all of them, we selected Mr. Norcia.  We‘re looking forward to having him lead the district with us.”  Speaking directly to Mr. Norcia, Mr. Bertram stated, “ Welcome home, welcome back!”

Mr. Norcia holds a B.A. in Special Education with a concentration in psychology and an M.A. in Educational Leadership, both from New Jersey City University.  Mr. Norcia has spent the last 6 years in the Fair Lawn Public School District where he currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools overseeing 10 schools, approximately 1,000 staff members, 5,800 students, and a $135 million dollar budget.  Prior to his service in Fair Lawn, Mr. Norcia held various administrative and leadership positions at the high school and district level including Director of Special Services at Morris Hills Regional District from 2010 to 2017.

Addressing the Board and community at the Board meeting, among some of his comments, Mr. Norcia said, “Thank you to the Board of Education for your support.  It does feel good to be coming back home…”  Later, he continued,  “I am so happy to be here and thrilled to be working here…I look forward to working with this community and building relationships again here at Morris Hills [Regional].”

Mr. Bertram has also since stated, “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank the faculty, staff, students, administration, and community members who provided us with valuable input that assisted us in our search.  I would also like to thank Mr. Jencarelli for his fourteen years of dedication and service to our District.  The entire Board wishes him the best in retirement.”
