• Substitute Teaching and Substitute Certification

    Substitute certification is required for a number of positions in the District including: Substitute Teachers, Out of District Coaches, Out of District Advisors, Staff Assistants, Volunteers, Student Teachers, etc.  Anyone who is not currently certified as a substitute and is interested in substitute teaching or any of the positions listed above must complete the substitute certification process through the county office.We welcome your application as a substitute teacher or any of the other positions listed above.  Substitute teachers provide for continuity of education when regularly assigned teachers are out ill, for personal reasons, or attending a professional development workshop.  Qualified substitutes are always in demand and are an integral part of our school community.

    Education and Certification Requirements
    Applicants must have at least 60 college credits.  Applicants who do not possess a NJ teaching certificate must obtain a county substitute certificate.  This is done through the county office.  Follow the link below to apply for a substitute certificate (If you are using MHRD as your sponsor we are county 27 and school district 3370).  The fee is $125.00 and all applicants must be approved by the Morris Hills Regional District Board of Education.  Once you have obtained your certificate please contact Sue Gust @ 973 664-2299 or sgust@mhrd.org to receive the additional paperwork you will need.  Below is the certification link and a video to help you with the process.

    Availability of Work for Substitute Teachers
    The Morris Hills Regional District uses an automated substitute scheduling service called Frontline Absence Management (formerly AESOP).  Substitutes can search and accept job opportunities on line or by phone through this automated service.  Frontline will also call/notify qualified substitutes if positions are still vacant the morning of the job availability.  More information about this service will be explained during the orientation process.
     
    Substitute Teacher Compensation
    County Certified Substitute - $120.00 per diem
    NJ Teacher Certification - $130.00 per diem
    Substitute Nurses - $200.00 per diem
