The Junior State of America is a national organization founded in 1934.  This club is devoted to fostering an appreciation for history and social studies.  JSA hopes to encourage youths to get involved in the political process, develop an understanding of democracy by a healthy exchange of ideas and beliefs, and prepare students to live in a democracy.  Typical chapter activities include student debates, field trips, nonpartisan political awareness events, and more.  JSA is one of the largest organizations in the United States that is operated almost completely by high school students.  This nationwide program has been recognized by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
